This is a collection of handmade minimalistic sculptural tiles with pyramids shifting out of the vanishing point creating a deceptive impression. The concept of the tiles is based on geometrical composition of squares, inspiration being Baroque architecture.

The ‘pink pyramid tile’ has recently been selected by Saatchi Art currator Bridget Carron to feature in a ‘Radical Geometry’ collection.

The sculptures are made of high quality plaster, coated in primer and acrylic paint. The frames are bespoke made to hold the sculptures.
The collection is limited to 60 sculptures.

The size of the sculpture itself is 39cm x 39cm x 4.5cm, whilst the framed size is 50cm x 50cm x 5cm.

Five geometry compositions made in 2012. (repost)

DS15 postcards from exhibition were gone quickly, but I kept a couple to myself.

At the back of each postcard is a blurb about my uni project.

My 1st year portfolio – MArch Architecture at Westminster University Design Studio 15.

The Olivetan Monks have inhabited the site of Temple of Venus and Roma since the XIV century, but are gradually losing their territory due to tourism and the historical significance of current monastery site. The New Extension aims to sustain the religious prominence of the site, combining the ritual routes of prayer, distillery and tourism, and assiduously embodying qualities of seclusive lifestyle and touristic disturbance.

I am currently working on an installation for the End of Year Show at University of Wesminster Design Studio 15. 

My coursemate Mat Crawford is helping me to make 60+ of my pyramid tiles tiles to create an installation for the exhibition. It has proved to be very challenging, but looks promising.

Pictures from two first days of the making at Westminster Uni Workshop.

In order to get ready for a crit I decided to make one last model of the geometry composition exercise. This time I was trying to escape from creating a model that would aesthetically reveal the way it was made.. Most models I’ve done so far were cast in moulds made of stacked up laser cut layers (to be uploaded soon). I have used laser cutting this time only to create a flat mould shape and to help me arrange the MDF sticks and their length (see photos). I mixed 20% Iron Powder, 75% Very Hard White Casting Plaster and 5% of ‘Burnt Umber’ Pigment with according amount of water.

I have always had a temptation to use leather in a model, and so I did this time! The idea was to cut out the holes in leather and put it inside a mould, so that after it was cast it would be impossible to take the leather off, as it would be held by the mdf spikes.

Once I have taken the model out of the mould I quickly showered it to wash off the dust of plaster.

The result was great, although I was more fascinated by the pictures of the negative that I have taken. I have selected two and given them a specific interpretation – ‘Sound Absorbing Ceiling’ and a ‘Hide and Seek Spatial Arrangement’!
